MASSAGE
Treatments
My personal style is a base of Swedish with Myofacial, and Deep Tissue.
I am experienced and have specialized training in several types of massage including pregnancy massage, neck and sciatic pain, pain management associated with scoliosis or other chronic alignment issues, Swedish relaxation massage, Hot Stone massage, and deep tissue massage.
Benefits of massage:
- Ease medication dependence.
- Enhance immunity by stimulating lymph flow—the body’s natural defense system.
- Pump oxygen and nutrients into tissues and vital organs, improving circulation.
- Improve the condition of the body’s largest organ—the skin.
- Increase joint flexibility.
- Promote tissue regeneration, reducing scar tissue and stretch marks.
- Reduce postsurgery adhesions and swelling.
- Lessen depression and anxiety.
- Release endorphins—amino acids that work as the body’s natural painkiller.
- Assist with shorter, easier labor for expectant mothers and shorten maternity hospital stays.
- Help athletes of any level prepare for, and recover from, strenuous workouts.
- Relieve migraine pain.
What a client should expect:
If you’re coming in for the first time, please arrive 10-15 minutes early to fill out paperwork in the sitting room. When you are finished, we will go to the treatment room and talk about what you have filled out on your paperwork. After we discuss your treatment, I will leave and you can disrobe and get on the table under the top sheet. You may leave your underwear on if you are more comfortable. I will return for your treatment about five minutes after I have left. You will be draped during the entire massage except for the area I am working on. When I am finished with the treatment, I will leave while you get dressed and will wait for you in the sitting room.
A typical full body session will include work on your back, arms, legs, feet, hands, head, neck, and shoulders. You will not be touched on or near your genitals (male or female) or breasts (female).
The most important part is to make yourself comfortable. I will either gently move you or tell you what is needed throughout the session (such as lifting your arm). Many people just close their eyes and completely relax. Others like to talk during their session. Feel free to ask me questions about massage and bodywork in general or about the particular technique you are receiving.
Recommended frequency:
- For therapy, you should get a massage once or twice a week. After the initial symptoms have been reduced, you can taper off to every other week, then once a month.
- For stress, once every two weeks.
- For maintenance, once a month.
- You can combine a massage treatment with a personalized yoga treatment for optimal effect!
